Returning to the Light, my large-scale, multimedia installation investigating contact with the sublime through the lens of a visitor to Florida’s endangered freshwater springs, will be on exhibit in the National Council for Education in the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) biennial invitational show. The exhibition is in conjunction with the 46th Annual NCECA Conference, “On the Edge”, in Seattle, WA.

March 26, 2012 – “Push Play” Panel Discussion, Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue, WA
I will be a member of a three-person panel discussing large-scale ceramic installation. Discussion will focus on the creative process and explore how the sense of play is evoked for the viewer. Audience participation will be welcome, and I and the other panelists will be available to answer audience member questions.

About the workshop: In the age of online sales, Facebook, blogs, and self-publication, great photography is one of the most important factors in how your artwork is received. This workshop is for 3D artists who want to learn how to take professional quality photos of their work. The workshop will cover inexpensive lighting solutions, using histograms for exposure, color balance, backgrounds, composition, and getting the most out of your digital camera.

Learn to use Photoshop to prepare images (your photographs, drawings, or paintings) for screenprinting on ceramics. The class will print slip transfers, simple water based overglaze enamel decals, and full color photographic transfers using underglazes. This workshop will cover image manipulation and cutting-edge ceramic techniques in a way that is accessible to students of every level, but basic knowledge of Photoshop and clay and/or printmaking is suggested.
